The Chinese permanent representative to the United Nations, Zhang Jun, called at the open session of the Security Council on humanitarian issues in Syria held on January 29 to increase humanitarian aid to Syria, while working to meet basic humanitarian needs, lifting economic sanctions imposed on Syria, and supporting Reconstruction projects and other ways to improve the living conditions of the Syrian people.

Zhang Jun stressed that China will participate actively in the process of rebuilding Syria within the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative, provide humanitarian assistance to Syria within the limits of its capacity, and will provide training and qualification to cadres working in reconstruction, thus contributing to enhancing Syria’s ability for independent development.
