The ambassador of Abkhazia in Damascus, Bagrat Khotaba Rashovich, revealed work to establish a Syrian industrial zone in Abkhazia, confirming that all approvals have been obtained to establish it to support Syrian products, and he also indicated work to establish a company to transport goods from the port of Tartus and vice versa.

Khotapa stressed the necessity of holding mutual meetings between businessmen of the two sides and exporters wishing to export, to obtain adequate information on products and to lay down the guidelines and appropriate facilities, as reported by Al-Thawra newspaper.

The words of the Abkhazian ambassador came after his meeting with officials of the “Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade” and “Federation of Syrian Chambers of Industry”, to strengthen cooperation between Syria and Abkhazia in the economic and trade fields, and to discuss exempting customs duties on goods by 100%.

By the end of 2018, the Abkhaz Chamber of Industry and Trade agreed to establish a permanent house of 100 square meters, in order to be an outlet for the export of Syrian handicraft products to the countries of the Russian Federation and Europe, in cooperation with the General Union of Craftsmen.
