The volume of capital invested in foreign currencies in the free zones branches reached 425 million dollars, and the number of investors reached 837 investors, by the end of February 2021, according to the data of the General Organization for Free Zones.

The corporation achieved revenues from all its branches amounting to 5.27 billion Syrian pounds during the first two months of 2021, while the customs duties due to commercial movement in the branches of free zones and goods placed in local consumption reached 2.481 billion Syrian pounds.

The movement of goods entering the free zone branches (imports) recorded 3 billion Syrian pounds, while the movement of goods leaving the free zone branches (exports) amounted to 14 billion Syrian pounds during the two aforementioned months.

There are 9 free zones in Syria, and the “Damascus Free Zone” is the most active investment, as it witnessed hundreds of establishments moving to it from the hotspots, and its revenues in 2018 recorded more than half of the revenues of the Free Zones Corporation.

The commercial movement of the free zones recorded 93 billion Syrian pounds in 2019, as the value of the movement of imported goods reached 44 billion pounds, and the movement of goods out of exports reached 49 billion pounds, according to the data of the General Organization for Free Zones.

The revenues of the Free Zones Corporation amounted to 4.5 billion liras during 2019, and customs duties of about 8.2 billion liras were collected.

The invested capital in the free zones reached 628 million dollars in 2019, and the number of investors reached 908, while the number of workers in the invested establishments recorded 6,145 workers.
