The Minister of Electricity, Eng. Ghassan Al-Zamil, confirmed that the ministry will move towards alternative energy to provide electricity to the governorates. Al-Zamil indicated that the beginning started from the Aleppo governorate, where a land was granted for investment to establish a 33-megawatt photovoltaic station in the Sheikh Najjar area, which contributes to improving and supporting the electricity sector.

The minister added that the project is divided into six phases, and each phase is 5.5 megawatts, to be linked at the end of the project by a direct connection to the voltage of the 20 kV electrical network.

100% of the project value will be financed by the implementing company to be paid in installments for a period of 8 years after placing each section Of the service sections of the project, indicating that the implementation period is / 18 months /, as the number of solar collectors to be installed in this station is 86,840 solar collectors, and it is expected to produce about 52 million kilowatt hours per year with the possibility of expanding the project up to 60 megawatts.
