The Director of Natural Resources Department, Manhal Al-Zoubi, talked about the Air Rice Project in Syria, where the project was introduced through the Food and Agriculture Organization in 2008-2009, and 19 different varieties of air rice were cultivated in Syria as an experiment during the seasons between 2015-2018 with the aim of studying Productivity and water consumption, four varieties were approved for cultivation in the Akkar Plain.

In turn, Dr. Thamer Al-Hanish, Director of the Crops Department, confirmed that the project has entered into implementation, and a joint scientific committee has been formed to conduct training courses to teach farmers how to grow them, seeds will be distributed to them later because it needs some time and training.

There are currently experiments planted in Tartous Governorate and it will be In the market within two years at least as planned.
