The Ministry of Transport and its affiliated entities achieved between 2016 and the end of the ninth month of last year 2019 direct and indirect returns of 891 billion Syrian pounds.

In a memorandum, the Ministry proposed a group of projects to enhance the infrastructure of the transport sector and its development, the most important of which is the implementation of new axes for rail linkage with neighboring countries, especially Iraq, within the Belt and Road Project to secure transit from Syrian ports to Iraq, Iran, Southeast Asia and China, and vice versa in order to reduce The costs and time of transport in comparison to sea transportation to reach these countries.

The Ministry is also working to increase the number of air transport fleet planes, replace its old aircraft to attract the largest number of domestic and international flights and tourism, expand infrastructure projects for the road sector to enhance benefit from the geographical location, activate Syria’s role as a dry channel for the integrated transport of neighboring countries and the service of transit.
