Smooth start of the transport sector in China for 2019

The Institute of Studies in the Ministry of Transport and Communications of China issued the Chinese transport production index for the month of January this year, which showed a smooth beginning of this sector for the current year.

The Chinese Transport Production Index (CTSI) is a comprehensive index based on traffic by all means of transport from railways, freeways, sea and river transport, and civil aviation. It reflects the overall operational status of the transport industry. It has a reference value of 100 points and consists of two sub-indices: passenger and cargo.

The overall CTSI index for the month of January was 162.3 at an annual growth rate of 6.4% and 1.3% higher than in December last year. The passenger traffic index was 162.1 at an annual growth rate of 7.6% and 4.7% increase from last December. Chinese New Year has greatly increased in this area. On the other hand, the index of goods transportation reached 162.6 points, down by 0.5% from last December. However, the annual growth rate was 5.8%.
